Bitchin Mexican Art

A few weeks ago Boyfriend and I spent a week in Cancun. It had been a few years since either of us had taken a real vacation and the need to get out of town was great. So we packed our bags and off we went. The only thing we had planned was to lay on the beach and drink margaritas, and stayed true to our plan. We stayed at an all inclusive resort called the Golden Parnassus. Now this resort is also all adult. I know what you are thinking...awe yeah, kinky. But it was not one of those resorts. In doing research for the trip I found several of those resorts, but we don't happen to swing that way. Plus naked poolside body painting is not something I want to do on vacation. Now the rooms at the Golden are a bit dated, but other than afternoon romps and sleeping we were not in our room. The staff was phenomenal, we could not have asked for better service. Here is the view from our balcony:

Note: The sliding glass doors leading to the balcony lock when the door is closed all the way. I found this out after joining Boyfriend on the balcony wearing nothing but a towel. Long story short Boyfriend went in and hopped in the shower and I spent the next 20 minutes lock out on the balcony.

Usually when I travel abroad I will buy a small piece of local art to add to my collection. Well the downfall of staying on the beach the whole trip was that we did not get to go into town to look for art. But I did not leave Mexico empty handed. One night we ate at the fancy resturant at the resort. After we were seated a man appraoched our table and asked our names saying he had something special for us. A few minutes later he came back to our table with these:

Once I saw all the glitter I knew I had found my art. Pure cheese! But I had to have them. I mean the guy had obviously put in a lot of hard work cutting the images out of greating cards, applying glittter, and then personalizing them for us. So Boyfriend forked over $12 for the pair. At first I felt a bit silly walking out with these, but then I noticed just about everyone else in the resturant had bought one as well. They too must love glitter as much as I do. I am not sure what I am going to do with them yet, I might hang them in the downstairs bathroom. I am thinking that some ornate gilded frames may be in order.
